Bomber Ski Destination Guide 2016: Where to Ski This Winter January 12, 2016
After several warm seasons out West, it seems El Nino has finally restored powder days in Utah and Colorado, and snow is starting to fall in the east as well.
Whether you're looking for a weekend getaway or a new resort experience, we recommend taking your Bombers to these top destinations -- or test-driving a pair once you get there:
Vail / Beaver Creek - Colorado
With the storybook setting of Vail and World Cup-worthy terrain of Beaver Creek, these alpine neighbors are unsurprisingly steady favorites among North American skiers, with both landing in the top 10 on SKI Magazine's reader resort survey with strong marks for service and grooming. Now there is even more reason to visit. Bomber skis are available to demo and purchase at Gorsuch stores in both destinations.
Aspen - Colorado
Aspen is the kind of town that lures even non-skiers in the winter, with its chic apres-ski options and lively social scene. But to miss views from the slopes like this? We couldn't. (Photo above by Matt Hobbs for Aspen Snowmass.) And with high marks on the SKI magazine's reader resort survey in practically every category, all four of Aspen's mountains offer a pleasant experience from lift to on-hill latte. Thankfully, Bombers are also available at Gorsuch in Aspen so we can glide through the highlands and carve our way down the front face in any conditions.
Deer Valley / Park City - Utah
Deer Valley and the newly expanded Park City Mountain Resort have enjoyed their number of powder days already this season, and the snow hasn't seemed to let up for very long. (Such has been the story of the West this year.) Beyond great conditions, Park City has upheld its reputation year for exceptional service, with SKI magazine readers again voting Deer Valley no. 1; and with the ability to click into skis less than an hour after landing, this easy-to-reach destination means more weekend skiing using fewer destinations. Find Bomber skis at Gorsuch on Main Street.
Windham - New York
Just three hours north of Manhattan, Windham is a hidden gem for urban skiers, and with service as exceptional as the snowmaking (now covering 98% of the mountain), it's an ideal weekend getaway -- now with Bomber skis available to test-drive. After a day on the mountain, we recommend having a pint at Mulligan's Pub and enjoying the beauty of the Catskills.
Gstaad - Switzerland
There's something special about Gstaad that words can't do justice -- the village atmosphere, the cheerful residents, the fairytale-like setting. "Gstaad is the last paradise in a crazy world," Julie Andrews once said. We love Gstaad for all these reasons and more, including its consistent conditions and October-to-May season, thanks to having the only glacier in the Bernese Oberland region. It comes as no surprise then that other famous skiers love Gstaad, too, including Madonna, Anne Hathaway and Roman Polanski.
