Bode Miller has made a life’s work of surprising us. Long before the most successful male American alpine ski racer of all time decided to join Bomber Skis on the 18th green on Spyglass Hill at Pebble Beach, he had established a dazzling reputation as a driven competitor and independent thinker. Raised in New Hampshire, young Bode Miller was already an accomplished golfer, a promising snowboarder and had earned all-state honors in high school in both soccer and in tennis. In the end, of course, it would be skiing that stole his passion and made his name a global brand.
The six-time Olympic medalist, two-time World Cup overall champion and four-time World Champion exploded into one of ski racing’s most prolific international athletes. Following a ski career for the record books, Bode was keen to transfer his unparalleled expertise from the elite domain of World Cup racers to the world’s wider market.
In short, Bode wanted to share the love.
“In Bomber, I found a ski company that enables skiers of every level to experience the quality of skis normally reserved only for the best racers in the world,” Bode said.
That Bomber ethos -- offering recreational skiers access to the same top-drawer technology, engineering and design that Bode enjoyed as the world’s top racer – is precisely what attracted him in 2015 to buy into the company as an equity owner and become its brand ambassador, skiing exclusively on Bomber Skis.
Co-founder Robert Siegel, a Manhattan-based property developer and avid skier, found in Bode a dream partner extraordinaire. “Bode is integral to the design of every Bomber ski,” Siegel explains. “He understands the physics and engineering. Bode pushes skis to the limit and then engineers their design to work for the recreational skier. With Bode, I share -- if not in skiing, then in principle -- a business mentality that is the same.”
“For the first time,” explained Bode, “I found a ski company that enables skiers of every level to experience the quality of skis normally reserved only for the best racers in the world. On Bomber Skis, all skiers – beginner, intermediate and expert – will be able to greatly enhance their everyday ski experience.”
After all, who wouldn’t want a chance to ski a little…just a little like the great Bode Miller? “With my experience and expertise I think we really have an advantage,” he added. “I love the sport too much and ski too often to consider skiing on anything less than the best. I want to share that thrill with everyday recreational skiers.”
